Background

Status: Approved
Date Posted: Dec 5, 2005
Sponsor: ERCOT
Urgent: No
Sections: 6.5.1.1
Description: Adds a requirement for a QSE representing a Resource to supply both gross and net MW and Mvar data to ERCOT for use in the operations model.
Reason: (1) In order to correctly model reactive capability and assess voltage security with ERCOT™s Voltage Stability Analysis Tool (VSAT), it is necessary to know the gross (generator terminal) output of Generation Resources, both MW and Mvar. (2) This PRR provides for compliance with NERC Standard VAR-001-0: R9, which states€“ Each Generator Operator shall provide information to its Transmission Operator on the status of all generation reactive power resources, including the status of voltage regulators and power system stabilizers.
