Rep. Byron Cook to Address ERCOT Members

Annual Membership Meeting Set For Tuesday

Dec. 7, 2011, AUSTIN – Rep. Byron Cook is scheduled to speak at ERCOT’s 41st annual membership meeting Tuesday, Dec. 13. 

The membership meeting convenes at 11 a.m. at the Marriott - South Austin Airport, 4415 South IH-35.  Members will vote to approve the 2012 board of directors.  Also, the Technical Advisory Committee members for 2012 will be announced.     

Rep. Cook’s speech is scheduled for 11:25 a.m.  

Rep. Cook is chair of the House Committee on State Affairs, which has jurisdiction over a variety of issues including utility regulation, management of state agencies, immigration, and the administration of state government.   He also serves on the Sunset Advisory Commission and the House Committee on Calendars.  

He previously served as chair of the House Committee on Environmental Regulation and vice-chair of the Local and Consent Calendars.    

Rep. Cook of Corsicana was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2002.  He represents House District 8, which includes Anderson, Freestone, Limestone and Navarro counties.   

The board’s regular monthly meeting is scheduled for 1-3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at ERCOT’s Austin location, 7620 Metro Center Drive.  The board will recess from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday to attend the annual membership meeting. 

Membership in ERCOT is open to any entity that meets the criteria as set forth in the ERCOT bylaws for any of the market segments including consumers, electric cooperatives, generators, power marketers, retail electric providers, investor-owned utilities, and municipal-owned utilities.   Members must be in an organization that either operates in the ERCOT region or represents consumers within the ERCOT region.   ERCOT currently has 295 members.
