SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT MOTE and PROD Digital Certificates transition to new Root CA.
INTENDED AUDIENCE: User Security Administrators (USAs) and Digital Certificate Holders
DAYS AFFECTED: October 1, 2025
LONG DESCRIPTION: On October 1st, 2025, ERCOT will start generating Digital Certificates based on a new Root CA.
Any valid Digital Certificates (based on the present Root CA) will still be accepted by ERCOT MIS and API. As certificates expire, are renewed or reissued, the new Root CA will be required.
ERCOT does not anticipate any interruptions or changes to the current process as we migrate to the new Root CA.
In the case of machine-to-machine communication, there should not be any differences from our current setup.
ERCOT's MOTE and PROD can be accessed through the following URLs.
ACTION REQUIRED: As certificates expire, are renewed or reissued, the new Root CA will be required. On or after October 1, 2025, Market Participants should download the new Root CA for MOTE and PROD environment.
All Certificates are available for download on the Digital Certificate Security Information page of ERCOT.com.
