SHORT DESCRIPTION: Request to populate the type of Load associated with each Load Resource
INTENDED AUDIENCE: Resource Entities representing Load Resources
DAYS AFFECTED: April 24, 2025, and June 20, 2025
LONG DESCRIPTION: On April 24, 2025, a new data field was added to the Resource Integration and Ongoing Operations (RIOO) application to indicate the type of Load associated with each Load Resource. When registering a new Load Resource, the Resource Entity is required to select the type of Load associated to that Load Resource from a dropdown list on the "Load Resource Info" data panel in RIOO - Interconnection Services (RIOO - IS). ERCOT is requesting that Resource Entities submit change requests in RIOO - Resource Services (RIOO - RS) to populate the Load type for each of their active Load Resources that were registered prior to this implementation. The attached file contains the list of Load types that are included in the dropdown list in RIOO. Note that if the user selects a Load type that includes "other" or "chemical plant", the user will be prompted to provide additional details in the "Load Type Comments" text box.
The type of Load will be confidential information and will be protected in the same manner as the other Load Resource registration data. ERCOT is collecting this information to provide visibility into the types of Loads connecting to the grid and participating in Ancillary Services. It may be used to report aggregate numbers for presentations or data requests, as needed.
ACTION REQUIRED: Please complete this data request no later than Friday, June 20, 2025. The Load type is not included in the ERCOT Network Model, so the RIOO change requests do not need to follow the standard timeline. The user can coordinate a Production Load Date (PLD) with the ERCOT Demand Integration team or request a PLD that is two Business Days after the RIOO submission is completed.
