SHORT DESCRIPTION: Implementation details for Fast-Frequency Response (FFR) Advancement project

DAYS AFFECTED: December 7 - December 9, 2021

LONG DESCRIPTION: Between December 7 and December 9, 2021 ERCOT systems will be updated to implement changes related to the Fast-Frequency Response (FFR) Advancement project. The FFR Advancement project is the second phase in the series of work being done to implement Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 863, Creation of ERCOT Contingency Reserve Service and Revisions to Responsive Reserve.

Protocol language related to the following Nodal Protocol Revision Requests (NPRRs) and Nodal Operating Guide Revision Request (NOGRR) will be partially implemented as a part of this project,

• NPRR863, Creation of ERCOT Contingency Reserve Service and Revisions to Responsive Reserve (ERCOT Board Approved on October 9, 2019)
• NPRR1015, Clarification of DAM implementation of NPRR863 Phase 2 (ERCOT Board Approved on August 11, 2020)
• NPRR1079, Day-Ahead Market RRS / ECRS 48-Hour Report Clarification (ERCOT Board Approved on August 9, 2021)
• NOGRR187, Related to NPRR863, Creation of ERCOT Contingency Reserve Service and Revisions to Responsive Reserve (ERCOT Board Approved on October 9, 2019)

A high level summary of changes that will be made as a part of the FFR Advancement project was discussed at the September 16, 2021 Protocol Revision Subcommittee (PRS) meeting. The presentation for that meeting has been posted to the PRS meeting page on ERCOT website. ERCOT will be hosting a workshop to outline the implementation details related to this project on October 27, 2021. 

ACTION REQUIRED: QSEs representing Resources that are providing or are interested in providing FFR are encouraged to attend the WebEx meeting on October 27, 2021. A QSE that wishes to qualify Resources to provide FFR may submit a request for qualification by contacting its respective ERCOT Account Manager
