Weather Forecast

The ERCOT Weather Forecast is developed by ERCOT Meteorologists Chris Coleman and Mark Witte. The interactive map displays today’s temperature information for major cities located within the ERCOT grid. Hover over a city to see the most recent temperature forecast.

Note: A Weather Zone is a geographic region designated by ERCOT in which climatological characteristics are similar for all areas within such region. This map displays the various Weather Zones that exist within the ERCOT footprint, but it does not necessarily include all counties that have participation within the ERCOT market.

Weather Forecast Details

General Discussion:
Another pleasant morning across Texas with mostly clear skies, low humidity, and cool temperatures. High- and mid-level clouds are forecast to increase across South and Central Texas this afternoon along with a slightly more humid south wind from the Gulf of Mexico. Afternoon temps will again be very warm this afternoon for the major cities of the ERCOT region. By Thursday, an approaching upper-level trough of low pressure from the west will bring more widespread showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe, to Texas. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to begin developing by late morning across Central and North Texas and move toward the east and southeast during the late afternoon and evening. The bulk of the severe weather is expected to have moved east into Louisiana by the early morning hours on Friday. Partly to mostly cloudy conditions will prevail on Friday with isolated showers possible; otherwise, a significant warming trend begins this weekend with sunny, dry, and unseasonably hot conditions extending into much of next week.

Today:
Partly to mostly sunny and very warm. Afternoon highs in the upper-80s to low-90s. A southeast wind of around 10 mph with higher gusts.

Thursday:
Mostly cloudy and not as warm with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs in the upper-70s to mid-80s. A southeast to east wind of 15 to 20 mph with gusts near 30 mph.
