How many homes can 1 MW power?

1 MW is enough to serve about 250 residential customers during ERCOT peak hours.

Where to find records

Current official records can be found in the Demand tab in the Demand and Energy Report on Helpful Resources page. The numbers for the most recent months may change slightly as additional settlements passes are completed.

How records are set

For a demand record, ERCOT use the integrated system load for the full hour. ERCOT does not count instantaneous loads for demand records. The unofficial demands reported during, or just after, an operating day are preliminary. The numbers may change slightly as the data goes through the settlement process. After a final settlement pass occurs, after several months, the numbers are set and become official.
