SHORT DESCRIPTION: Shadow price cap increases for the South Texas Export IROL and Implementation Details for NPRR1230

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: October 1, 2024 and October 2, 2024

LONG DESCRIPTION: On October 1, 2024, ERCOT will implement Interconnection Reliability Operating Limit (IROL) shadow price cap modifications for the E_PASP and E_PATA IROLs per Subsection 3.7, Methodology for Setting Transmission Shadow Price Caps, of Section 22, Attachment P, Methodology for Setting Maximum Shadow Prices for Network and Power Balance Constraints. Subsection 3.7 of Section 22, Attachment P, was added by Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 1230, Methodology for Setting Transmission Shadow Price Caps for an IROL in SCED, which was approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) on September 26, 2024. The updates to the shadow price caps will occur between 3:00 PM and 4:00PM on October 1, 2024.  The updated shadow price caps will be reviewed annually and will remain in effect until otherwise stated through a Market Notice. The contingency/constraint pair and updated maximum shadow prices (set in accordance with Subsection 3.7 of Section 22, Attachment P, are as follows:

On October 2, 2024, the grey-boxed language in Subsection 3.7 of Section 22, Attachment P, will be implemented, requiring ERCOT to provide a Market Notice of future updates to shadow price caps for IROLs at least 30 days prior to becoming effective.
