SHORT DESCRIPTION: 2026 Black Start Training
INTENDED AUDIENCE: Transmission and Distribution Service Providers (TDSPs), Transmission Operators (TOs), Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs), and Resource Entities (REs) with Black Start and Next Start Resources
DAYS AFFECTED: March 24 through April 30, 2026
LONG DESCRIPTION: The 2026 ERCOT Black Start Training will be held for six consecutive weeks beginning March 24, 2026. Successful completion of the training will consist of a total of 23.5 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs); 3.5 for the computer-based training (CBT) courses and 20 for the in-person simulation. Registration will be active beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The registration fee is $587.50 per person, regardless of registration type. Payment must be made by credit card; no invoices will be issued or electronic payments accepted. The registration system will accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Entities may need to register participants in small groups to ensure their company transaction limits are not exceeded.
The registrant's ERCOT LMS username will be required to register for the training. Please ensure each registrant has an LMS account created that includes his/her company name, company email address, and NERC certificate number, if applicable. New users may create an account by selecting the 'I am a new student' button. If the registrant has an account but cannot remember the password, select the 'Forgot password?' link under the 'I am a new student' button. If the registrant has an account but has changed companies, please contact systemoperationstraining@ercot.com for help to update the profile.
ACTION REQUIRED: Visit the event site for all information including full agenda, deadlines for refunds, and CBT assignment dates. The registration section of the site will not be active until February 4 at 9:00 a.m.
