SHORT DESCRIPTION: Implementation details of NPRR 1285, Improve Self-Commitment within RUC Opt Out Window

DAYS AFFECTED: February 1, 2026

LONG DESCRIPTION: On February 1, 2026, Protocol language associated with Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR)1285, Improve Self-Commitment within RUC Opt Out Window, will be implemented.   

The Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC) Opt Out Snapshot records a Resource's Current Operating Plan (COP) and determines whether that Resource will opt out of RUC Settlement for a block of RUC-Committed Hours. NPRR 1285 expands the current RUC Opt Out Window, giving Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs) more time to adjust their COP Resource Status before ERCOT takes the RUC Opt Out Snapshot.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In accordance with Protocol Section 21.6, Nodal Protocol Revision Implementation, ERCOT provides notice as soon as practicable, but no later than ten days prior to implementation.
