NOTICE DATE: September 30, 2025
NOTICE TYPE: M-B093025-01 Operations
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Resources maximizing ride-through capability by 12/31/25 for Nodal Operating Guide Revision Request (NOGRR) 245 must follow Planning Guide 5.5(6)
INTENDED AUDIENCE: Resource Entities (REs) and Interconnecting Entities (IEs) with transmission-connected Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs), Type 1 Wind-powered Generation Resources (WGRs), or Type 2 WGRs
DAYS AFFECTED: December 31, 2025
LONG DESCRIPTION: REs and IEs for Transmission-connected IBRs, Type 1 WGRs, and Type 2 WGRs intending to maximize a Resource's ride-through capabilities on or before December 31, 2025 (as required by Sections 2.6.2.1 and 2.9.1 of the Nodal Operating Guide), must follow the process documented in ERCOT Planning Guide (PG) Section 5.5(6) prior to implementing any modifications to control settings or equipment affecting dynamic response at the Point of Interconnection (POI).
Per the process defined in PG 5.5(6), the RE/IE must submit an updated dynamic model accurately reflecting Resource performance after proposed modifications. ERCOT has up to 10 Business Days (with an option to extend another 20 Business Days) to review the submitted information. Due to the expected high volume of RE/IE requests for ERCOT to review proposed modifications, ERCOT strongly recommends REs/IEs intending to modify equipment to maximize ride-through performance by December 31, 2025 submit updated dynamic models for ERCOT review as soon as possible but no later than October 10, 2025. If the submitted dynamic model requires additional information upon ERCOT review, the RE/IE risks not having ERCOT approval in time for the RE/IE to implement changes before the December 31, 2025 deadline in the Nodal Operating Guide.
Alternatively, if an RE/IE determines no modifications are required to maximize ride-through performance, the RE/IE must notify ERCOT by sending an email to NOGRR245@ercot.com that the current dynamic model for the Resource already reflects maximized ride-through capability.
ACTION REQUIRED:
- ERCOT encourages REs/IEs to submit updated dynamic models to ERCOT as soon as possible but no later than October 10, 2025 to allow time for ERCOT to review the initial submissions and to work with the RE/IE in the event an issue is identified with the submission.
- As outlined in PG Section 5.5(6)(a), send an email to with all necessary materials including proposed modifications and include "IBR Proposed Modification" in the subject line. Include in the email: (i) a brief description of the objective(s) of the modification(s); (ii) the RIOO-RS ticket # (RSCR number); and (iii) the name of the site or facility. Submit models via RIOO-RS, not via email
OR
- Notify ERCOT via NOGRR245@ercot.com that no modifications are necessary because the Resource's ride-through capability is already maximized and the existing dynamic model submitted to ERCOT already reflects the maximized ride-through capability.
