LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT invites Market Participants to a workshop on two connected projects that will modernize how Market Participants interact with ERCOT and access ERCOT systems.

The Future-Ready Identity and Access Management (IAM) Program replaces the current digital certificate-based access to the Market Information System (MIS) with a modern identity platform using username, password, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). The new approach is easier to manage and better positioned for evolving security needs.

The Market Participant Service Portal (MPSP) introduces an online portal that automates interactions between Market Participants and ERCOT currently handled through email and phone calls. Initial use cases include contacting Client Services and the Service Desk, submitting forms, receiving notices, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), and submitting weatherization information. The MPSP will be part of the MIS and will use username, password, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for secure access - making it the first instance in which Market Participants will use the new IAM authentication method.

The two projects are connected: the IAM program provides the secure access foundation the MPSP requires. Market Participants will experience both as a single change to how they interact with ERCOT.

This workshop begins a multi-year conversation between ERCOT and Market Participants in identifying, prioritizing, and providing feedback on future MPSP use cases as well as migration of MIS access from digital certificates to the new IAM system. This conversation will continue through follow-on workshops and at applicable stakeholder forums.

• Discuss the implementation approach and transition plan
• Obtain stakeholder feedback on current and future plans

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

NPRR1302 introduces the Market Participant Service Portal, a new authenticated portal that automates interactions between ERCOT and Market Participants currently managed through email and manual processes.

NPRR1306 replaces references to Digital Certificates throughout the ERCOT Protocols with technology-neutral language reflecting the new model in which each Market Participant's User Security Administrator (USA) manages user access to the MIS.
