LONG DESCRIPTION: On June 6 - 8, 2023, Protocol language associated with Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 863 Creation of ERCOT Contingency Reserve Service (ECRS) and Revisions to Responsive Reserve, and NPRR1085, Ensuring Continuous Validity of Physical Responsive Capability (PRC) and Dispatch through Timely Changes to Resource Telemetry and Current Operating Plans (COPs).
NPRR863 introduces the following changes to the following Protocol Sections:
- 4.6.2.3.1, Day-Ahead Make-Whole Payment – Revision to Day-Ahead Make-Whole Revenue calculation for each DAM-Committed Generation Resource (DAASREV) to include ECRS
- 4.6.4.1.5, ERCOT Contingency Reserve Service Payment – Creation of new Charge Type for Payments for Ancillary Services Procured in the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) for ECRS
- 4.6.4.2.5, ERCOT Contingency Reserve Charge Creation of new Charge Type for Charges for ECRS procured in the DAM
- 6.6.5.1.1, General Generation Resource and Controllable Load Resource Base Point Deviation Charge Creation of a new system wide exemption for ECRS
- 6.7.1, Payments for Ancillary Service Capacity Sold in a Supplemental Ancillary Services Market (SASM) or Reconfiguration Supplemental Ancillary Services Market (RSASM) – Creation of new Charge Type for ECRS
- 6.7.2, Payments for Ancillary Service Capacity Assigned in Real-Time Operations – Creation of new payment for ECRS
- 6.7.2.1, Charges for Infeasible Ancillary Service Capacity Due to Transmission Constraints – Creation of new Charge Type for ECRS
- 6.7.3, Charges for Ancillary Service Capacity Replaced Due to Failure to Provide – Creation of new Charge Type for ECRS
- 6.7.4, Adjustments to Cost Allocations for Ancillary Services Procurement – Creation of new Charge Type for ECRS
- 6.7.5, Real-Time Ancillary Service Imbalance Payment or Charge – Revision to the calculations of Real-Time Capacity for Non-Controllable Load Resources carrying ERCOT Contingency Reserve or Responsive Reserve for the Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) (RTNCLRCAP) and Real-Time Ancillary Service Supply Responsibility for Reliability Must-Run (RMR) Units represented by the QSE (RTRMRRESP) to include ECRS
- 6.7.7, Adjustments to Net Cost Allocations for Real-Time Ancillary Services – Creation of new charge for ECRS
NPRR1085 introduces the following changes to the following Protocol Sections:
- 6.7.5, Real-Time Ancillary Service Imbalance Payment or Charge – Revision to Real-Time On-Line Reserve Capacity for the QSE (RTOLCAP) to exclude the capacity from Generation Resources with a telemetered status of ONHOLD

ACTION REQUIRED: Impacted Market Participants should implement changes to their shadow Settlement systems to incorporate the Protocol revisions made by NPRR863 and NPRR1085.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Pursuant to Nodal Protocol Section 21.6, Nodal Protocol Revision Implementation, ERCOT is required to provide notice as soon as practicable, but no later than ten days prior to implementation.
