SHORT DESCRIPTION: Annual Demand Response Survey - Request for data concerning customer Demand Response capabilities

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Retail Electric Providers (REPs)

DAYS AFFECTED: August 15, 2026 (acknowledgement of participation requirement); September 1, 2026 (snapshot); October 15, 2026 (deadline for submitting files to ERCOT); October 31, 2026 (deadline for submitting deployment event data and filing corrections)

LONG DESCRIPTION: Under ERCOT Protocols Section 3.10.7.2.2, Annual Demand Response Report, Retail Electric Providers (REPs) that met the specified average summer 2025 weekday daily consumption threshold must participate in the annual Demand Response Survey.

ERCOT Protocols Section 22, Attachment S, titled 'Demand Response Data Definitions and Technical Specifications' is posted on ERCOT's Current Protocols webpage  and provides details on the participation requirements.

For the 2026 reporting year, ERCOT will notify each REP's Authorized Representative by email by August 1 whether the REP has a reporting requirement.

ACTION REQUIRED:

1. By August 15, 2026, the designated Authorized Representative for each REP notified as having a reporting requirement must send an e-mail to DRSurvey@ercot.com confirming whether the REP has customers participating in one or more programs listed in 'Demand Response Data Definitions and Technical Specifications' (ERCOT Protocols Section 22, Attachment S), and providing all other information required by Protocols Section 3.10.7.2.2(4). If the REP has no such customers or programs, the email must state that instead.
2. By October 15, 2026, each REP required to submit data for the 2026 survey must send ESI ID participation files to ERCOT in the format specified by Protocols Section 22, Attachment S. The survey responses should reflect participation by customers participating in those programs on the snapshot of September 1, 2026. Note: REPs may submit the required data in one of the two required formats: via NAESB EDM or using the ERCOT-designated Secure Share application.
3. By October 31, 2026, each REP required to submit data for the 2026 survey must resolve any data validation issues identified by ERCOT and submit revised participation files.
4. By October 31, 2026, each REP required to submit data for the 2026 survey must, if applicable, send deployment event data to ERCOT in the format specified by Protocols Section 22, Attachment S.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ERCOT will treat information provided in the Annual Demand Response Survey as Protected Information in accordance with ERCOT Protocols Section 1.3, Confidentiality.
