NOTICE TYPE: M-A072425-01 Operations
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Request for data concerning Demand Response capabilities
INTENDED AUDIENCE: REPs and TDSPs
DAYS AFFECTED: April 1 - June 30, 2025
LONG DESCRIPTION: Per the requirements in 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Section 25.186, Goal for Average Total Residential Load Reduction, no later than 45 days following the end of each calendar quarter, a Retail Electric Provider (REP) providing a responsive device program within the ERCOT region must submit to ERCOT, on a form prescribed by ERCOT, the following information for each calendar month in the quarter:
- the electric service identifier (ESI ID) for each residential customer with smart appliances or devices enrolled in each responsive device program offered by the REP; and
- the date of each demand response event, including each demand response event start time and stop time and the ESI IDs deployed for each event
ERCOT is required to file by each March 31st of each year a report with the Public Utility Commission of Texas summarizing data submitted by REPs pertaining to their smart appliances and devices programs. The requirement states that those responsive device program must not allow participation of a residential customer that is enrolled in an emergency program such as a TDU load management program under 16 TAC Sections 25.181-183. Therefore, in order to complete the required report, ERCOT requires data from both the REPs and TDSPs.
The applicable forms and instructional documents for REPs and TDSPs are located at https://www.ercot.com/services/programs/load under "Key Documents". Detailed data formatting instructions can be found in the most recent version of NPRR1291.
ACTION REQUIRED: REPs must inform ERCOT if they have a responsive device program and submit required data for Q2 2025 by August 15, 2025. TDSPs must inform ERCOT if they have a load management program and submit required data for Q2 2025 by August 15, 2025
