M-A062725-01 RTC+B Market trials update to prepare for July-August activities
NOTICE DATE: June 27, 2025
NOTICE TYPE: M-A062725-01 Operations
SHORT DESCRIPTION: RTC+B Market trials update to prepare for July-August activities
INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs) with Resources
DAYS AFFECTED: July 7, 2025
LONG DESCRIPTION: This notice is to provide details on the transition to Real-Time Co-optimization plus Batteries (RTC+B) Market trials for QSEs with Resources for July 7, 2025.
As previously described in the Market Notice from April 16, 2025, ERCOT and stakeholders have agreed to a series of required activities, including the ramp-up from initial connectivity testing to parallel operations, ahead of the RTC+B go-live on December 5, 2025.
As the May-June connectivity Market trials activities are completing, ERCOT is providing details on four key changes to be prepared for the next phase of Market trials activities starting on July 7, 2025:
1. System outage: RTC+B Market trials systems supporting market submissions will be taken down for maintenance from June 30, 2025 17:00 - July 6, 2025 17:00 to prepare for the next phase of trials. No test Market submissions or outage submissions will be accepted during this timeframe.
2. System connectivity changes: QSEs will need to transition to using Production Digital Certificates for the Market trials systems. QSEs will also need to update their RTC+B system connectivity (more information is available in Market-Trials-Market Submissions presentation at the TWG June 26, 2025 meeting link).
ERCOT offers the following information to support connecting to the RTC+B Market trials production systems for Market and outage submissions :
RTC+B Phase of Testing |
Digital Cert |
MMS and OS User Interface URLs: |
API URLs - Internet/WAN: |
Open Loop and Closed Loop Testing |
Current Production |
RTC Market Trial URL https://markettrials.ercot.com/mmsui/mmsui/displayTradesLanding.action |
RTC+B Market Trial Production System Internet/WAN URLs |
Note that for API submissions over the Wide Area Network (WAN) and internet into ERCOT RTC+B Market trials production environment, QSEs must download the "RTC+B MarketTrials public key" (available to download under RTC+B section at the link: https://www.ercot.com/services/mdt/webservices) and place the public key into the keystore location in the system used for RTC+B submissions.
3. QSE engagement in trial activities: During this next phase, Real-Time Market execution tests will begin in which QSEs provide parallel Market offers/bids and production-quality telemetry into the Market trials systems each week on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Although QSEs will not follow RTC+B awards and dispatch, each QSE must also be available for ERCOT to schedule individual QSE testing and demonstrate the ability to follow RTC+B dispatch signals from ERCOT for a subset of Resources within their portfolio.
4. Report availability during these trial activities: The following reports are included as part of CDR Group 1/Open Loop testing for Market trials. The RTCB Current Day Reports XSD is available on the ERCOT website (https://www.ercot.com/services/mdt/xsds). These reports are available on the ERCOT website under the Real-Time Co-optimization Market Trials Report Version heading and the ERCOT Market Information List (EMIL).
- RTC Market Trials LMPs by Resource Nodes, Load Zones and Trading Hubs | NP6-788-RTCMT | Rpt ID 4104
- RTC Market Trials SCED Shadow Prices and Binding Transmission Constraints | NP6-86-RTCMT | Rpt ID 4106
- RTC Market Trials Real-Time Price Adders by SCED Interval | NP6-323-RTCMT | Rpt ID 4108 (*PRIOR NAME: Real-Time ORDC and Reliability Deployment Price Adders and Reserves by SCED Interval. This report has been modified for RTC Market Trials)
- New Report: Real-Time Clearing Prices for Capacity by SCED Interval | NP6-332-CD | Rpt ID 24891
ERCOT appreciates the successful progress to date and will continue weekly meetings each Monday at 10:00 AM with the impacted QSEs. The first July weekly meeting for the RTC+B Market trials is posted on the ERCOT calendar for July 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
These activities are summarized in the RTC+B Market Trials Plan endorsed by the ERCOT Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) in October 2024. ERCOT will publish weekly scorecards reflecting the progress for each QSE beginning after July 22, 2025.
ERCOT will also continue to support questions on the weekly Market calls and via email using RTCB@ercot.com.
ACTION REQUIRED: All QSEs with Resources are expected to continue to support the required activities of the RTC+B implementation outlined above and detailed in the TAC- endorsed RTC+B Market Trials Plan through RTC+B go-live.
