SHORT DESCRIPTION:  PST optimization in CRR Auctions

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  CRR Account Holders

DAYS AFFECTED:  January 21, 2021, and February 4, 2021

LONG DESCRIPTION:  To better align with Day-Ahead Market (DAM) processes, ERCOT will start optimizing Phase Shifting Transformers (PSTs) in Congestion Revenue Right (CRR) Auctions. Currently, PSTs are set to a neutral angle, which remains fixed during auction optimization. With this modification, PST angles may change during auction optimization to help manage congestion. ERCOT will begin PST optimization in the following CRR Auctions and will optimize PSTs in all subsequent CRR Auctions:

• 2021.FEB.Monthly.Auction (results to be posted on January 21, 2021); and
• 2022.2nd6.AnnualAuction.Seq4 (results to be posted on February 4, 2021).
