SHORT DESCRIPTION: New Zapata – Starr (ZAPSTR) Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: November 5, 2020

LONG DESCRIPTION: Based on the results of the Quarterly Stability Assessment (QSA) for Q4 of 2020, performed pursuant to Planning Guide Section 5.9, Quarterly Stability Assessment, ERCOT has identified the need to create a new GTC in the Valley area (i.e., Zapata – Starr 138kV). The new GTC is modeled in the Network Operations Model as ZAPSTR, and results from the installation of new Generation Resources in the region.

The purpose of this notice is to provide contemporaneous notification to all ERCOT Market Participants of this new ZAPSTR GTC. ERCOT will begin enforcing the new GTC on November 5, 2020.

Details associated with all GTCs (EMIL ID NP3-766-M, Report ID 11424) can be found on the ERCOT Market Information System (MIS) Grid Transmission page under the Generic Transmission Limits Secured Area. A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS Secure Area.
