SHORT DESCRIPTION: New Generic Transmission Constraint in the West to Central Texas Area

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: June 24, 2020

LONG DESCRIPTION: As a result of the Q2 2020 Quarterly Stability Assessment (QSA) performed pursuant to Planning Guide Section 5.9, Quarterly Stability Assessment, ERCOT has identified the need to create a Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC) in the West to Central Texas area due to the installation of new Generation Resources in the region.  The GTC is established to address instability issues in the West to Central Texas area, and has been named the W_TO_C.

The purpose of this notice is to provide contemporaneous notification to all ERCOT Market Participants about the need for the W_TO_C GTC. ERCOT will begin enforcing limits for this GTC on June 24, 2020.

Details associated with all existing GTCs (EMIL ID NP3-766-M, Report ID 11424) can be found on the ERCOT Market Information System (MIS) Grid Transmission page under the Generic Transmission Limits Secured area.  A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS Secure Area.
