W-B112117-04 Update – Revised Proposal to Add Bearkat Remedial Action Scheme

NOTICE DATE: June 17, 2020

NOTICE TYPE: W-B112117-04 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Update – Revised Proposal to Add Bearkat Remedial Action Scheme

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: Comments due June 24, 2020

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT has received a revised proposal from Wind Energy Transmission Texas (WETT) to add a Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) at the Bearkat Station . The Bearkat RAS is designed to monitor the terminal status for the Bearkat – Sand Bluff, Divide – Sand Bluff, and Long Draw – Sand Bluff 345kV transmission lines.  The RAS will affect the NBOHR_UNIT1 (Bearkat I) and HARALD_UNIT1 (Bearkat II) Generation Resources.

As proposed in this revision, the RAS will require a change to the Bearkat Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC) to limit the combined output from all Generation Resources connecting to the Bearkat Station—NBOHR_UNIT1 (Bearkat I), HARALD_UNIT1 (Bearkat II), RSNAKE_G1 (Rattlesnake 1), and RSNAKE_G2 (Rattlesnake 2)—to a level that would make the RAS viable.  ERCOT will provide Notice and modify the Bearkat GTC prior to the physical implementation of the Bearkat RAS if this RAS is approved.

ACTION REQUIRED: Any comments to this proposal are due to ERCOT by June 24, 2020 using the attached form.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Information regarding this proposal and all RASs can be found in the “Remedial Action Schemes and Constraint Management Plans” portlet located on the Long-Term Planning page of ERCOT’s Market Information System (MIS). A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS.
