M-B032520-01 Implemention of lower Counter-Party limit for PTP Obligation bids in Day-Ahead Market

NOTICE DATE: March 25, 2020

NOTICE TYPE: M-B032520-01 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Implementation of lower Counter-Party limit for PTP Obligation bids in Day-Ahead Market

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED: March 25, 2020

LONG DESCRIPTION: Beginning with the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) for Operating Day March 27, 2020, ERCOT will lower the limit on bid IDs per Counter-Party per Operating Day for DAM PTP Obligation bids to 2,000. The ability to activate a lower bid limit as needed was put in place by System Change Request (SCR) 798, PTP Obligation Bid ID Limit.

It is necessary to lower the bid limit at this time due to recent instances where increases in PTP Obligation Bid ID submissions created the risk of manual DAM operator intervention in Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) submissions and put a timely DAM solution in jeopardy.

The new bid limit is posted in the updated Market Submission Validation Rules document in the Market Information System (MIS) Secure Area. A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS. Bid submissions that exceed the limit will receive descriptive rejection messages.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: System Change Request (SCR) 798, PTP Obligation Bid ID Limit, was approved by the ERCOT Board on April 9, 2019.  SCR798 and associated documents can be found on the ERCOT website.
