SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT to host the first workshop discussing the Performance Credit Mechanism (PCM) design parameter options

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: April 17, 2024

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On April 17, 2024, starting at 9:30 A.M., ERCOT will host a workshop to discuss development of the PCM.  This is expected to be the first of multiple workshops that will be held on this initiative.  Energy and Environmental Economics, Inc. (E3) has been working with ERCOT staff to help lead the discussion.  The areas of focus will include:

  1. An overview of PCM concepts, including the history of PCM and its overarching mechanics;
  2. The key decision points for the PCM design, as laid out in ERCOT’s February 29, 2024 filing with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) of the PCM Draft Design Parameters Options Memorandum and discussed by the PUCT at the March 21 and April 11, 2024 Open Meetings; and
  3. The approach being taken by E3 to analyze PCM and the impact of various key decision points.

ACTION REQUIRED: Interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend the workshop in person (ERCOT Austin) or virtually via WebEx.  The workshop will also be broadcast and recorded using Swagit for viewing the workshop via the ERCOT website at a later date.
