| Description: |
This Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) replaces the term Wholesale Electric Market Monitor (WEMM) with the term Independent Market Monitor (IMM).
|
| Reason: |
Public Utility Regulatory Act (PURA) ยง 39.1515 (Wholesale Electric Market Monitor) directs the Public Utility Commission (Commission or PUCT) to develop rules governing the operations, standards, funding, and conduct of a wholesale electric market monitor. In compliance with this provision, the Commission adopted PUC Subst. R. 25.365, relating to the Independent Market Monitor. According to PUC Subst. R. 25.365, the entity that has taken on the role of wholesale electric market monitor is referred to as the Independent Market Monitor (IMM). In order to ensure consistency in terminology between the Commission Substantive Rules and the ERCOT Protocols and avoid confusion, the term Wholesale Electric Market Monitor (WEMM) as used in the Nodal Protocols should, therefore, be replaced with the term Independent Market Monitor (IMM).
