Inadvertent Gain Task Force

The Texas retail electric market is designed to minimize the inadvertent gains of customers by competitive retailers without customer authorization, but inadvertent gains may still occur. Recognizing this, the Inadvertent Gain Task Force (IGTF) was established by the Retail Market Subcommittee (RMS) to help design the process and procedures to provide operational guidance for addressing those inadvertent gains, in support of the Public Utility Commission of Texas™s customer protection rules, in particular PUCT Substantive Rule§§25.495 (Unauthorized Change of Retail Electric Provider).

The IGTF analyzes the current procedures in the Retail Market Guide and MarkeTrak User Guide that are used to address inadvertent gains.
