Bill Magness

Bill Magness was ratified as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas in September 2010. 

Prior to joining ERCOT, Mr. Magness was with the law firm of Casey, Gentz & Magness and represented ERCOT as outside counsel in numerous cases before the Public Utility Commission of Texas.  He served as chief of the Office of Customer Protection and chief counsel of Office of Policy Development at the Public Utility Commission of Texas, 1996-1998.

Mr. Magness holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a juris doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  He is a member of the State Bar of Texas (Public Utility Law Section).
