Jack Durland is executive director of Power Contracts and Strategy for Valero Energy. In this position since 2007, he has been responsible for power procurement and monitoring electricity regulatory issues for Valero’s 14 refineries, 11 ethanol plants and terminals. Mr. Durland also manages power sales from Valero’s 50 MW wind farm.
Prior to joining Valero, Mr. Durland spent two years as director of Energy at New Page Corp. (NP), the largest coated paper company in North America, where he was responsible for energy procurement and management, including coal, electricity, natural gas, hydroelectricity and biomass.
Previously, Mr. Durland worked for Vulcan Materials Company’s Chemical Division in manufacturing, power plant cogeneration operations and maintenance, business development and procurement. His positions included Engineering and Manufacturing manager, director of Business Development and director of Procurement.
Mr. Durland holds a graduate degree in Business from Louisiana State University and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
