Clifton Karnei is the executive vice president and general manager of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc., a position he has held since September 1997.
Mr. Karnei graduated summa cum laude in 1983 from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor of business administration degree. From 1983 to 1986, Mr. Karnei worked for the Big Eight accounting firm of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells. In 1986, Mr. Karnei began employment as the chief financial officer for San Miguel Electric Cooperative in Jourdanton, Texas. San Miguel is a 440-megawatt lignite-fired generation facility. From 1990 to 1997, Mr. Karnei served as the general manager of San Miguel Electric Cooperative. Mr. Karnei is a certified public accountant in the State of Texas and a member of the Texas Society of CPAs.
In addition to serving on the Electric Reliability Council of Texas Board since 1997, Mr. Karnei also serves on two other boards. Mr. Karnei is a director on the Alliance for Cooperative Energy Services (ACES Power Marketing) board, where he serves on the Risk Oversight Committee. Mr. Karnei is also a director on the San Miguel Board of Directors, where he serves on the Negotiating Committee.
